1/15 – Digital ship certificates

In January 2015, the German Flag issued the first electronic ship certificate for a German-flagged merchant vessel engaged in domestic voyages. Since July 2015, this service has also been available to shipping companies with vessels engaged in international voyages – initially for safe manning certificates, and later for other certificates as well.

All it takes is a click on “Ship Certificates” and an ID number emailed by BG Verkehr to access a ship certificate in electronic form. The e-certificates are fully valid.

For several years now, all ship-related certificates issued by the German Flag have been issued digitally.
